Amadeus (D&D version)

I don't know if anyone remembers the original Amadeus because I only drew him twice, but like Lilyana, he's also in the same D&D campaign as her. In fact, this version of Amadeus was created by me with some elements taken from @Mamsey and played by our lovely DM. 💜 She does a wonderful job... even though I created a monster out of him.

Sit on tight, this is going to be one heck of a ride. Oh, and potential TW from here on.

In our campaign, Amadeus is Robin (D&D Lilyana)'s fiancé. But! Their betrothal is anything but romantic... or consensual.

In Robin's kingdom, they worship Celestials. Her family— and herself— are no exception. In fact, Robin was conceived because her parents have prayed to them vehemently for a child and they got her. Therefore, she is considered a miracle child. Ever since, they have dedicated their lives praying to Celestials/Angels for wellbeing and thankfulness. Robin's mother succumbed to a mysterious illness when she was around 7-8 years old. But despite that, it hasn't stopped her from leading a happy childhood and onwards. Her mother cultivated her love for music, and she refined it through her voice. And over the years, Robin became quite famous and beloved for it. She goes by "Aretha" as her artist's name (similar to the original version). When Robin didn't sing, she painted and read. She had a loving father who supported her through and educated her through other things. She had a maid-in-waiting who she considered family. She had friends, fortune, everything anyone could ask for, truly. She was blessed.

That was, until one day, Amadeus manifested before her in the garden of her family estate. It's not visible in this drawing, but he has four wings. So she was quite amazed to see a Celestial in person. He was very kind to her, meaning no harm to his sudden appearance. He likewise presented himself to her father and staff members. He was equally— if not more— surprised than his daughter. An Angel visited them, one of the very beings that had given them everything. But throughout the presentation, he would not take him eyes off Robin. There was a strange glow behind them. When she and Amadeus were left alone at his request, she would soon come to know: he never did. He had been watching her from Heaven since she was very young with stark interest. Now at twenty-three years old, he was determined to make her his bride. Robin was astonished by the news. Engaged with an Angel? Immediate ascension to Heaven? It sounded like the ultimate gift from the Celestials!

However... she was so happy with the life she led here. She had everything and was in love with living. In Heaven, she would not be able to sing, paint, read, be among her loved ones. Leaving this Earth would be too soon, she told him.

"Oh, you do not understand, my dear," he started, that glimmer in his eyes worsening. "This isn't a matter whether you want it or not. You are going to marry me and you will ascend to Heaven." At that moment, her face blanched with fear. He seemed determined to snatch her away if it was necessary. Robin didn't understand this; she believed Celestials were comprehensive and merciful. So... why was this one threatening and covetous? Was his kindness a facade? She refused, but did not seem to take "no" for an answer.

However, the situation seemed to take a turn for the worse: her father had fallen ill. With the same disease as her mother's. Seeing her dismay and dread, Amadeus offered a bargain. If she were to return home with the Crystal Heart, he would cure her father and call off the engagement. Robin accepted, but until then, she would be his fiancee. Should she fail to retrieve it, she would be his completely. And as proof, he makes her wear a ruby ring as a sign of their betrothal. Word spread quickly of their engagement and... Everyone celebrated it, including her friends. No one seemed to fathom her discomfort. In fact, she should consider herself lucky they she was with a Celestial, they would say. But even with the lack of support, she's determined to be free.

I know, kind of a long read for a very simple sketch made with a mechanical pencil. I struggled to draw his body. I often draw characters with clothes and this is the first time in a long while that I draw a nude, muscular body. But yes, do not be fooled by his enigmatic smile and wings. He's a very creepy and possessive Angel. We thought it was interesting to make a subversion because since Robin's interactions with devils have been mostly positive (don't get me wrong, they're evil too), we thought, "Why not make a Celestial who's evil?" Even if that goes against their alignment/rules. 😂

If you made it this far, have a cookie! 🍪 Thank you so much for reading!
