I just wanted to express something that's been bothering me for quite some time. I wouldn't necessarily call this a vent, but it's something I've been witnessing and hearing for about a year now, and honestly, it's getting out of hand. It's genuinely sad.
There's this little boy in my neighbourhood whose name I know as Bobo. He's a child who cries quite frequently, and whenever he does, the adults in the household respond by insulting him. I've heard things like, "Shut your mouth, stupid boy," "Useless child," and "Keep quiet, you idiot."
These people live very close to my house. There's a fence separating our properties, but they're close enough that I can hear practically everything happening in their household.
At first, we thought maybe things would eventually settle down or perhaps the family was just going through a difficult period. And I understand that times are hard, especially in Nigeria. People have their own struggles, financial difficulties and personal problems. But that still doesn't justify constantly insulting children.
What particularly concerns me is this little boy. My mom recently told me something that made the situation even more heartbreaking. Apparently, the woman who frequently insults him isn't his biological mother. From what my mom overheard, the woman has been telling him things like, "Your mother abandoned you, you useless child."
We don't know the complete family situation, but it's possible that he's a relative's child who was taken in by the family.
And honestly, if someone knows they cannot properly care for a child, why take on that responsibility in the first place? A child shouldn't have to suffer because of decisions made by adults.
And it isn't just the verbal insults. I've also heard the woman threaten to flog him, bring out a cane and physically punish him. You can hear the sound of the cane being used, followed by the little boy crying. It's incredibly upsetting to hear, especially when you know it's a child on the receiving end.
Sometimes the other children also join in with the insults, which makes the whole situation even more upsetting.
I don't understand why a little child has to be treated this way. He's a CHILD. He didn't choose his circumstances, he didn't choose who his biological parents are, and he certainly didn't ask to be in that household.
What's particularly sad is that whenever I hear him crying, I feel terrible for him. And whenever I hear him being quiet or playing without crying, I'm honestly glad. At least, for that moment, he's having some peace.
Another thing that's been bothering me is what can actually be done about this situation.
My mom and I have considered reporting the matter to the appropriate child-protection authorities in Nigeria. However, we're honestly not confident about how these situations are handled here.
One of our biggest concerns is confidentiality. We're worried that instead of the report being treated as an anonymous complaint, our involvement could become neighbourhood gossip. There's also the concern that even if we report it, it could take months before anyone responds or takes meaningful action.
I don't want to sound dismissive, but it's difficult to trust a system when you're worried that a child's situation might not be treated with the urgency it deserves.
So we're honestly unsure about what steps to take. It's frustrating because we're aware that something isn't right, but knowing how to get help without potentially making things worse is another matter entirely.
I know I can't understand everything happening behind closed doors, and I don't want to pretend I know the entire story. But I genuinely feel sorry for this child.

I've noticed that, on the art side, I've become quite the creature collector. I just love seeing creatures that are not quite what you've seen before romping around in nature.

They are best friends they became best friends at the age of 3 because they thought it was cool that their names rhymed as they grew older they became better friends and one day they decided to go on a magic adventure to find this special crystal that could grant powers they eventually find this crystal after 4 years of searching but Tilly ends up getting water powers and Milly gets nature powers they think they are great but would have preferred each others powers they find a small scroll in a compartment under where the crystal fragment was it reveals they have to find the other half of the crystal to unlock the full power of the crystal and then they would be able to swap powers they head out to find the other half of the crystal on the way they get better at using their powers and use them to help traverse the land and their friendship grows stronger after another 4 years they finally find the other half of the crystal by then there bond and friendship has grown immensely stronger and one they gain the full power and swap powers they already feel use to them and they use technics from there past power to use the new one and the travel all the way back the path seemingly so much easier they use there new powers to traverse the land much better than they could before there bond has grown immensely stronger than it ever would have if they never went in this journey

So, basically, I participated on the KInktober prompt of this year. I think I only uploaded day 4 so I guess it is safe. However, I had three drafts on my profile that I began on October 8th, one for day 6 and another for day 10, the main problem is, AO3 announced that the shutdown or maintenance period would last 2 to 4 weeks, as we know, drafts last 30 days before being deleted automatically, and by basic math, my drafts would be deleted while the maintenance is ongoing. Can anyone help me or give me some advice on how to get back my drafts?

I think drawing the same few ocs for years straight restricted and tired me, wanna branch out into different directions. Please please please people, when you draw a corset, the knot is meant to be in the centre/ most narrow part of the body
Or tucked in so you can't see it
Too many artists and costumes have the knot at the bottom or top of the corset

What's my books abt u may ask?
It's a combination of my fictions accompanied with illustrations and my comics
Each book will feature digital writing and hand drawin illustration while the manga will be mix of trad and digital since im still practicing digital n got better
So for each series for example trigun
All my vash fics will have illustrations and In another pages it will feature comics
Im also thinking I could do inside em sticker sheets, fun facts, lore drop n anything that could fit a 00s comic/manga book

The fun part about wearing a creepy costume is that I can scare lots of people easily (especially if they think im just a prop)
