Moon šŸŒ™

ā€œThe last man who told me what to do lost me and the boat.ā€

Cleaned up sketch of an OC.

Moon ran away from home when she was a kid and found herself at a temple for the moon goddess, Shanna. Here, male priests could undergo a ritual in order to symbolically become icons of Shanna and live as women. Moon herself was born male but wanted to be a woman very badly (the lack of belonging was what drove her to flee in the first place). So she trained to be and was eventually elected as Shoshanna (ā€˜one for the moon’), the highest position in the temple and the direct emblem/prophet of Shanna. The position was held by a eunuch.

Moon was happy for a time, but soon realized that her life as Shoshanna was stifling. Not only were there a bunch of strict rules and guidelines to follow, the recognition of her womanhood was conditional based solely off of her adherence to them. She wasn’t living as a person in her own right, she was being placed on a pedestal in order to glorify someone else. It was dehumanizing. Through this, Moon finally understood her ultimate purpose: to cause lots of problems and be transgressive.

So she left the temple, got herself exiled as a heretic, but reclaimed ownership of her body and identity in the process. Now she defines herself on her own terms. Her womanhood is not something to be recognized by others, but something she herself recognizes.

…but now she has a problem with commitment because she’s perpetually worried about anchoring herself somewhere that turns out to be undesirable. The quote about boats is in reference to one of Moon’s wealthy ex-lovers; he slighted her by telling her to change something about herself, so she immediately stole one of his boats and left never to be seen again.

This is a separate project from Sevenfold More Wicked (I have so many different projects bro). I’m thinking of calling it Thieves’ Cant but idk.
