Wooden Man (again)
I first came up with this character idea a couple years ago, and could never decide on his lore, but I always figured it would be a bit complicated. So I had to leave it up to the devoted fans of the LeDourqueverse to decide where he would ultimately land. Thus, he will be joining our heroes (I swear, I'll get to work on some villains soon.)Known only to most as Wooden Man, this creature from a far-flung world in the Ledourquian galaxy group belongs to a rarely seen race of forest beings. I had originally thought that he would be a sentient wood golem type of creature, but after much deliberation amongst myself, I and I have decided that he is simply one of the last of a race of beings whose bodies are essentially made of wood that has the capacity to behave like flesh. At will he can tense his wooden flesh to be harder than hickory (harder than steel, in fact), but the wooden cells can also behave like flesh, only slightly less flexible and elastic than a human's flesh. Members of his race will grow a thin bark-like exterior, but some (including Wooden Man himself) choose to remove the bark and expose the flesh underneath which has the appearance of polished wood. Branches will sometimes grow from his body, which are usually removed. But he's currently allowing the ones growing from the sides of his head to grow so that he can carve them into sharpened "antlers", giving him an additional weapon and adding to his already fearsome appearance.
In his travels to other worlds, the cryptic being has struggled greatly with the perception he creates. Already a brooding and melancholic character - as he has no real family and barely has a race at all to belong to - Wooden Man finds that most beings are terrified when they first seen him. He's a bulked up, hulking figure significantly larger than humans, with a body made of wood and blue, glowing orbs for eyes. Not something you see every day. Add to this the fact that he can't speak, and it's not hard to understand why he's perceived as a monster. Most flee at the sight of him, but some actually respond with hostility. Had he been first encountered by those of villainous persuasion, he might have been won over by the darkness. But his superhero friends have given him a family, have worked with him to keep him calm in tense situations, and have helped him to show others that those who look like monsters can still be heroes.Aug 28, 2026

I wrote too quickly. I love his backstory and abilities :3 I kind of don't see him becoming a villain mostly because I associate nature with balance and tranquility (even though that would be an interesting concept and there's already a nature-based villainess and maybe other villains that I don't know of.) But overall, I love him :3

•Love his backstory! While I suggested hero I can see how he would work as a villain too. I can see how his character may feel pulled towards darkness at times (such as when others perceive him as a monster and attack), but it suggests an interesting and compelling character to be able to resist that.

•OMG WOODEN MAN! HE IS SO COOL?! I AM SO PUMPED TO SEE HIM!! Also the fact he can sharpen his antlers and use them as an additional weapon?! How much cooler can he get and what can he not do?! He’s incredible! Now after further determination, I don’t think he’ll punch me (if you remember my last comment lol) but he might give make a sick treehouse !!
