Robodude

This may be hard to believe, but I created this masterpiece in probably 1989, possibly '88. I'm posting it now for three reasons: First, because he's Robodude. I mean, is another reason really needed? Second, because the next OC I've been working on in my head (haven't started drawing yet) is bearing a bit of a resemblance to this paragon of mecha-machismo in my imagination. And why not? I remember drawing him, getting my inspiration mainly from some art and screenshots I had seen in a video game magazine about a NES or Sega game whose title I can't remember. The playable character seemed to me (though I don't think it was ever admitted) to be a ripoff of RoboCop, which was pretty new at the time. So for those of you scoring at home, the video game allegedly ripped off RoboCop to make their character, and I allegedly ripped their character off to make Robodude, though I believe the wings and the metal Skechers slip-on shoes are my original idea. And third, because I can't believe I've never posted this bad boy before. So today I come before you to right this egregious wrong. The good people of ArtFol demand amazing original characters, and I, your humble servant, am here to deliver.Sep 13, 2026

I love it! Specially when this was your old artwork. Seems like you took inspiration from robocop. I think you should change the name and give it a new model. “Dude” and “man” seems like more 19s name.

WHAAT? WOAHH! HE LOOKS SO COOL AND EVERYTHING. :OOO I love seeing artists post their older pieces because it shows how they came a long way and how they thought at the time! I must say this is a true masterpiece 😎😎😎 I remember seeing robocop for the first time and I was like who is this scary man :0 as a young kid!

Upon further review... The name of the video game was Cyborg Hunter for the Sega Master System. After looking at cover art and screenshots online, 2026 me doesn't think the character looks nearly as much like RoboCop as 1988ish me did. But it still inspired the creation of Robodude, so you're welcome.
