Updated Cypress ref
Cypress “C.G.” Grace (he/she) is a ghost with garish fashion taste. She died under circumstances that he prefers not to talk about, and afterwards asked the reaper who took her soul for a second chance. While this would normally never happen, Cypress was annoying enough about it, and this particular instance of death was bored enough to let it happen, at a very high risk of losing their job, no less. They agreed to bring Cypress back to life, on one condition: She must make a (positive) difference on the lives of one million people… In 2.5 years. (Cypress initially haggled for 5 years, Death agreed to compromise.) Until then, he will roam the world as a ghost, and if she fails this mission he will be sent to purgatory, permanently. Cypress is loud and obnoxious, but also melancholic, a trait he tries to bury by being even more loud and obnoxious. Only her two best friends, Cloude and Maddox (stage name Mx. Magnificent) know a bit about this hidden sadness, and even they don’t know the full story.

I figured since I posted that little sticker design, I might as well post Cypress’s updated reference as well. I’m gonna be posting art fight things as they’re finished, but I want to post the references too, so I’ll probably be switching between the two haha. Cypress isn’t related to my current project by any means but I do find myself thinking about him sometimes, I think his story is the one I want to flesh out next.
Did any of y’all ever watch The Problem Solverz on cartoon network? Cypress reminds me of that, and I remember that show inspired me to get into art in the first place, which is really funny now with how my art style has gravitated away from that influence. But Cypress gives me that opportunity to use those bright, ugly neons, which I love so dearly in their own way.Jul 3, 2026
