Drawtober 2026 day 19: Mio & Mayu Amakura (Fatal Frame 2 Deep Crimson Butterfly)
Working my way thru all the Fatal Frames, I hadn’t yet drawn the outfits from Deep Crimson Butterfly, aka the Wiimake, and decided to try. I had a way different composition for this double page spread, which was a redraw of one of the chapter images for chap 8 Waning Moon, so i changed the pose to more similar to the first chapter.This pose better shows the open back design of these outfits. I messed up and inked her camisole black instead of it being open but to be honest, the design felt a lil odd XD so I made it a full cami with the lacing in acrylic. The remake did a really cool redesign but I wanna give this one some love. Mayu’s outfit was a lot more complicated though XD The fluttering sleeves she had though really made them feel like butterfly wings moving.
Apparently their clothes are from an in-universe clothing brand called Farfalla x Farfalla, which also makes their ballet practice wear, which explains the silhouettes, material choices and designs. I think its pretty cool to have that lore background for something youd never see in the game, and having fictional clothes brands really fleshes it out beyond the game world.Oct 21, 2026
