Rant about SA and our society’s burial of it

What do we tell the men?

That’s right. Now when people get raped, we either turn a blind eye, or ask the culprits to write essays. We turn on the victims, insult them, degrade them, tell them to shut up or “it’ll bring shame to the family.” We tell them they’ll ruin somebody else’s (their ABUSER/s’) bright future.

This is the society we live in.

We tell our daughters how to protect themselves. We tell our sisters what they cannot do from a very young age. We ask our mothers to be home before sundown. But what about the reason they’re asked to all of these precautions to begin with? What do we say to the boys growing up? What do we tell the men to do while we’re saying all those things to little girls and women?

2026. That’s the year we’re in. Still, those men in power claim they want to protect children. They wish to hold predators accountable. But nothing is done when evidence against culprits surfaces. They cover things up, leak information about the victims for everybody to see, hide facts, punish the victims. That’s what they do. Yet, they claim to care for our women and children. They even put up laws that’ll make predators find minors more easily while everybody’s identity and private information gets leaked every other day.

What’s a word stronger than “lie.” What’s a word stronger than “hypocrisy.” What’s the term for saying they’re out there just to make money and pay lip service just so they can stay in power and continue to keep things at the status quo for us insignificant peasants.

You don’t have to be a woman or a father, a brother, a son or anything to care and take a stand against such injustice. Such heinous crimes. You simply have to have a heart and use it. My own dog cries when I cry. And we’re not even from the same species! How come we claim we’re the superior race, then openly act like savage animals in the wild. Devoid of empathy. Devoid of compassion. Devoid of moral. Devoid of a feeling heart.
