For those who don’t remember, in the 80s Diane and Dennis have an argument that eventually led to Diane destroying Dennis’ bass
After that their relationship is pretty much forever changed
They don’t talk for a while, Dennis is done being the one who always make the first move, and Diane is too embarrassed to properly apologize
This drawing is her first attempt at en apology; she goes to Dennis’ place, but they don’t let her in, instead they talk in the entrance of the building
Diane does explicitly say that she’s sorry, she feels like it wouldn’t really fix anything, since the hurt has been done already, but she offers to pay for the bass. Dennis doesn’t accept the money, and even tho they know they her way of trying to redeem herself, they’re really disappointed
They stay in silence a while
Diane would like to cry, and for Dennis would comfort her, like he always does, but she’s too scared he won’t do it this time
After that they won’t see each other for a while, Diane moves to the states without telling everyone, and they won’t talk to each other for almost a yearJul 29, 2026

I love how this looks like the weight of her actions have finally reached a non return point and it feels so well with their physical distance, their rigid pose showing they are standing strong on their choice and she looks devastated as she finally realizes she's not as strong as she tried to make herself look to others.
Already without the context, you can tell this is a broken relationship. Great work!

•It's so realistically tragic when family's relationships fall apart and drift away
Love your portrayal of it tho!
