MINIUM
Minium or āred leadā comes from roasted white lead, or from cinnabar. This flame-like pigment was used to illustrate and illuminate manuscripts. A miniator, or the illustrator who applied the minium, applies the pigment to headings, capitals, or other portions of the work that needed to be highlighted. The character concept that I created from this pigment is fairly cut and dry: a miniator. Though Iām an artist/illustrator myself, I always imagine Middle Age/Medieval artists to be sleazy and scrawny!Aug 24, 2021
