In The Cold Air

[DATE - Sometime in 2006/2007, back when Mangkhut and Haiyan used to work for the emperor]

Mangkhut, along with his sons and his brothers, used to live in a neighborhood in Thayas, where the entrance to the neighborhood is an ivory colored bridge surrounded by leafy greens and always smells as if it just rained, cicadas and birds can always be heard making noise and singing at nighttime.

One day as he was walking back home after yet another wondrous day of work [his brother Haiyan made it before he did], he would find Nina, who happened to live nearby in the neighborhood, watching the view, she was on her way to the market to buy a few things and return home,

He walked towards her and said hello, and asked her if everything was alright, she had her hands behind her, with a smile on her face as she looked at the moon, surrounded by stars in all shapes and sizes faintly glowing "The view looks very beautiful at nighttime, do you not agree?" She asked the green Thayan standing next to her, Mangkhut turned his head to look at the moon and the twinkling stars, he then turned to look at the beautiful sight of green bushes and trees next to the bridge, his head then turns to the face the Thayan woman "Yes, it is very beautiful" he replied, with a small smile on his face "The green bushes and trees look beautiful as well, just looking at them fills me with joy and tranquility".

Mangkhut turns his head away from Nina and continued looking at the trees, the bushes, and the branches covered in leaves, as he looked at the scenery, he saw that there was one small bush sitting next to the bridge, looking at it, it made his eyes open a bit, his mouth tremble and watered, it made him feel hungry, he reached over to grab it, only to get a single branch that is about the size of a magician's wand with about five or more leaves on it, he took a bite out of the branch, making a loud crunching noise.

Nina, who was still looking at the night sky heard the noise, and quickly turned to look at Mangkhut who was eating the branch, upon seeing this she was surprised, but at the same time felt pretty awkward at the sight of the green Thayan eating a tree branch as if it was food.
