The day was over. Everyone went home as a chapter of their life finally came to a close..
A dimly lit hallway awaits behind a closed door, as the tall overgrown grass in the lawn quietly sways with the cold night wind.

"This is the end huh?"

Luke questions himself as he takes a moment to brood on his front porch.

The daily routine he once followed has now become pointless.
.
No point in getting up early to avoid being late. No more distractions if there's nothing to study to begin with. No more goals to achieve. No more schedules to plan. No more deadlines to keep him busy...there's no more purpose...
.
And no more excuses.

This scene takes place way before the main story begins. For further context, this is after the end of his highschool graduation ceremony. Luke mostly used his education as a way to distract himself from his personal problems at home.
He lived alone for a couple of years due to his dad passing away early and his mom being confined in a hospital far away from his home. His only source of support mainly came from his Uncle who also lived far away and is only able to check-up on him from time to time due to his own busy life.

I love the distance from the character to make him seem extra small, I think it really nicely conveys his headspace (and also lets us see the surrounding which I think look really cool!). Your writing isn’t bad at all, I think it’s quite nice!
