GlobophobiaAlcestis doesn’t view balloons as mere festive decorations.
She detests them, she’s horrified by them, and in her own words, she “abhors the very existence of balloons in all shapes and sizes, color or texture”
Her unnatural tendency to attract balloons is beyond belief. Seeing is believing, and for the non-believers, a glance of her mortified eyes whenever this topic is bought up should convince anyone the existence of such a dark, disturbing horror is indeed real in the world of Alcestis Saraphina.
“They’re out there to eat me!” Exclaimed Alcestis to the campus therapist Baris Ambriel, wide eyed and trembling, tightly gripping her green tie that was long soaked from her sweaty hands.
It all started on an innocuous winter day at the park, sometime before Alcestis discovered her power that got her in cipher academy, when a balloon seller accidentally released a horde of them into the air.
When she heard the commotion behind her and turned around, she saw not only one, but two… three… six…twelve… a hoard of colorful, bright balloons slowly making their way towards her…
“Because I-if I c-couldn’t run away, Mr. Ambriel, it means I-I’ll have to g-get rid of them!!… somehow…” In Alcestis’ own definition, it means she’ll either have to risk a heart attack from a nasty explosion against her elevated state of mind. This usually ends with her fainting, which is exactly what happened after the park incident.
Or be forced to listen to the abomination’s demonic scream as she serves the life energy of a balloon, which happened one time during her former classmate’s birthday party.
A sane person would tell her it’s just static electricity. And that her “Demon extermination ritual” is actually called “letting the air out.”
Oh, and that she probably should comb her messy hair, which she admittedly almost never does unless they get in the way of her fairy tale reading session.
