Seretah ֺׅ⋆ּ Watchperson/guider 𝆺𝅥I'm sorry for the long (and awfully written) post, I got carried away; can't keep things short
. Also my oc probably doesn't even fit at all but at this point I better just post it ahkxs. Anyway, big thanks to @sk_ench for making this challenge!! It's really fun, and everyone's ocs are so cool I wanna draw them all <3
Seretah ֺׅ⋆ּ Watchperson/guider 𝆺𝅥
Space is no different than sea. Its surface might be clear and peaceful, but as you go deeper, the fresh hue of blues turns into lavish purples, engulfing everything in shadows. There, where the silence becomes eerie rather than quiet, lives Seretah.
Most of the time, she swims by the Violet Sparrow, guarding their route. There, she can breathe perfectly. However, when she gets into the boat she creates "space bubbles" (like the ones on her clothes) to contain some air, which she can absorb better by opening tattoo-patterned gills on her lower back, shoulders and face. She just likes to wear a veil to hide her face a little more.
Random facts (only if you want to play along ofc!!
) ֺׅ⋆ּ
ּ ⋆She's sorta inspired by a space-mermaid-medusae (jellyfish) ¿? (I'm sorry she looks too human, I was scared of messing it up. Might redraw her).
ּ ⋆As many other deep space creatures, she's bioluminescent! Some deep space aliens follow other's lights to prey, some use it as a camouflage…particularly, her gaze (her light as well as her gaze, lil twist jsjjs) is meant to startle creatures away. Because of that, aliens of her kind are among the least threatened space creatures. That's why she's also used to feeling kinda powerful, but after arriving on the Violet Sparrow she's realized she's no match for most planetarians. Therefore, she's still quite wary of most of the crew.
ּ ⋆Can sting with her nails.
ּ ⋆Laments that she had such a bad first meet with the cook, the food looks so good! However, she's very glad Gary ( @rcky_way oc uwu) insists on bringing her some snacks even if she says she has enough food in the space
ּ ⋆Occasionally helps the engineers by checking their reparations from the outside or picking things that might have fallen off deck
ּ ⋆She's closest with Aubrey ( @applecidurr_ oc uwu), since she helps her with navigation. I imagine space creatures behave quite similarly to sea creatures, so I think they'd get along well. Also spends a lot of time watching the band play, since they often wave/play around with her from the inside. Really likes to peek at the kitchen as well, but tries the hardest not to be caught staring there (which is quite fun btw). Overall she enjoys the younger members youthful attitude!
Backstory ֺׅ⋆ּ
At some point she lived comfortably in a swarm, but the constant wars have lead for boats of all sorts to destroy space life -and cut down her food sources.
Since then, she's been swimming alone, feeding on small space creatures. Hoping to catch something, she followed a light, thinking it'd belong to some plankton-like alien. However, she soon realized it had to be something much bigger. Indeed, a boat was there, surrounded by a feast she didn't expect. Annoyed, she got closer, intending to discover what was so irresistible about the boat
The moment she looked into the luminous windows, she knew it. She couldn't resist it either. She stayed there for a while, observing through the glass.
She peered through a bunch of rooms: in one, an alien girl read joyfully; in another, some people cooked patiently and concentrated. All of it seemed like a great show, until it wasn't. When they spotted her, things got…bad.
Part of the crew was alerted and rather sooner than later they were asking what she had seen and what was her purpose, with enough weapons to decimate an army.
That was when she realized stinging nails might keep away space creatures, but not planetarians. At that point, all she could rely on was her deathful glare. But Captain Loretta catched a glimpse of something else: fragility, desperation and nostalgia, hiding in the dark.
She gave her a chance to explain and Seretah convinced them that all she was trying to do was catch some of the fishes which swam by the boat. She insisted that she could watch out for any hazards and guide them through really deep places if they let her remain there. With her promise to stay in the space unless they required her presence, they spared her. After all, she didn't seem like a threat. Yet they still didn't trust her, but she couldn't blame them: she wasn't being completely honest either.
One thing was clear: these people were hiding secrets and she'd be better off without unraveling them. But how, how to resist that light?
That's how she made her way into the Violet Sparrow! If anyone read all, thank u sm and sorry again!Apr 6, 2023

Woah,, this is absolutely beautiful, and colors and anatomy is gorgeous! The lore is so intricate and so well-thought out too, it's so intriguing! Amazing work! Her backstory feels so poetic, i adore it!
My guy Seamster is especially fond of bring lights and colors since his home-planet was full of them, so he might inadvertnetly hang around her

•OH MY HAUIYEFVHBDNKYEJGDLSHCNIYKUJCXLBYDKJCSLK HDCUX- Maxten's log on Seretah: "When we first found Seretah, or she found us, I nearly blasted her to oblivion. Luckly, Loretta stopped me and mow we have a guide of sorts. But . . . Imma be honest, I'm scared of this . . . thing. Like, I can see her being a good person, I mean, if Loretta saw it, I should see it soon. The thing is, well, I'm not sure. I know she means well as I said, but I just don't know why I can't see it yet. One day I trust her, but for now, I'm not 100% with her. Gotta socialize somethime." IUrhlgsbndilkjkerndflcxiukjgrendfxlciujhdnfiugjh!!!!! THIS IS SO GOOD! The lore & story is amazing, the execution is outstanding, and I love the originality. Great job.

•omg it's even longer than I thought it'd be
I'm sorry her looks don't fit at all; I just thought it'd cool to have a character which is actually from the space the sail in (dunno, I found the comparison between sea and space really cool :>) As an apology I'm probably going to draw everyone else's ocs, bc that's what u want, def not me ᵕᴗᵕ
