A cursed princess
This is princess Isolde, or Sol as she likes to be called, second born daughter to the king and queen of a beautiful and prosperous human kingdom.
Through a series of strange and mysterious events involving a very old book and her mother’s unrelenting hunger for knowledge and subsequent death, Sol came to be contractually bound to a very old, very powerful being, not of this world.
The being planned to use her as a vessel through which it could interact with the physical world. However, before the queen’s death, the being supplied her with a vast treasury of knowledge, as was their deal. Among this knowledge there was an incantation, perhaps as old as the being itself, that could subdue the thing’s power almost entirely for a day after it was spoken.
The queen was able to share this incantation with her child before meeting her demise, and with it, Sol managed to remain in control, trapping the being within her mind.
As she grew, it became apparent that there was something wrong with Isolde, although none knew of the events that lead to her mother’s death or the true cause of her worsening condition. Her eyes and veins started to blacken, and she could not hide the pain the vengeful being sent coursing through her blood like fire.
The kingdom began to whisper of a curse, and as her unearthly affliction became more apparent, people started avoiding her out of pity and fear.
When it came time for her older sister to take her place as queen, Sol’s existence was largely ignored by the public, only acknowledged when necessary, and with the utmost solemnity. Fellow members of the royal court were content to leave her to herself, and her sister saw her as nothing more than a disgrace to the family, and tried her best to keep her out of the public eye.
Sol has grown used it all now. The lack of attention suites her just fine, and she spends most of her time hulled up in her mother’s old library tower, that is now largely regarded as her own, trying to learn everything she can about the true nature of the being she’s become one with, and reciting her incantation daily.
The local children tell stories of seeing the cursed princess wandering the streets late at night, searching for victims to whom she can pass on her curse, but those are just stories of course.

I apologize for the unnecessarily long backstory, this is the shortened version
