Looking like a skirtSo I just finished sewing the waist band on. I decided to go for two lines of a thin elastic, since the skirt isn't that heavy, and it'll give me a lot more flexibility later in the process. I prefer multiple thin elastics, since, compared the wide ones, they stretch and tighten individually, making them more form fitting and comfortable. I still haven't hemmed the bottom of the skirt, since I wanted to be able to level out the three layers of organza before finishing the edges.
I did NOT bother putting the big petticoats on for this, since I need the workspace, and honestly it wont make a huge difference, as long as the bottom is even (and meet my minimum measurements for each hem, which are already noted from when i made the paper pattern).Jan 10, 2026
